Lucy's Crab Shack Quilt

I made my first quilt this past September. It is a 9 patch quilt and I used two Lucy's Crab Shack charm packs by Moda. I loved all the prints in the pack! I used 7-7 1/2"x 9- 7 1/2" patches. These were perfect summer fabrics and I absolutely love everything summer!!
My two miniature Dachshunds especially love the quilt and I always find them laying on it or under it!

9 Patch Cupcake Quilt Progress

Since we were so busy with the move, I had zero time to work on the cupcake quilt. Finally tonight I sat down and finished sewing the top of the quilt! The quilt is 6-7 1/2" x 8-7 1/2" squares. Since this is my second quilt ever, I decided I will not put any borders on this one and just do the binding. I did not like figuring out the two borders on my last quilt!

I went to Capital Quilts today and picked out my backing and binding fabrics. Luckily I found some fabric that was half of for my backing!

Hopefully this week I can baste the quilt and quilt it!

New Home Preview

We are moving this weekend to Takoma Park in D.C. and we have been slacking on all the packing! All that is packed is our living room and bathroom, we have yet to tackle the dining room and kitchen :/

Our new place has been a complete fixer upper and still has a ways to go, but all the painting is finally completed and we will have to renovate the rest as we go.

Our new apartment is above a funeral home, the place where my husband and dad work at, and my dad used to own. I swore I would NEVER live in one of the 2 apartments that are above the funeral home, but Kirk's boss gratuitously offered it to us pretty much rent free--who could give up that offer?? So I gave in and realized we can start hoarding money away for our dream home!

So our new adventure begins living above a funeral home!

9 Patch Cupcake Quilt

Since I finished my first quilt, I've caught the sewing bug and can't seem to stop! I've been making kindle cases, pillow cases, cell phone holders, and pot holders. I decided last week to start another quilt.

I was a Joann's fabric since I had coupons, and found several very cute cupcake fabric and that inspired me to make a cupcake quilt. It was my first time at Joann's and I don't know if I'd ever go back, since I've been so spoiled going to a small boutique fabric store called Capital Quilts and service is always super fast there! I waited an hour almost to have my fabric cut at Joann's :(

My progress so far on my cupcake quilt:
